Cat Skiing Adventure in Bakhmaro, Georgia

Experience the unspoiled beauty of Bakhmaro, Georgia, renowned for its immersive cat skiing adventures. In winter, this buzzing summer resort transforms into a serene, snow-covered haven, offering skiing aficionados a one-of-a-kind escapade.

Discover Bakhmaro: A Winter Wonderland

Every winter, Bakhmaro is enveloped in a blanket of 4-7 meters of snow, turning homes into barely visible rooftops. As tourists stay clear due to the intense snowfall, true adventurers get the chance to savor cat skiing in a landscape untouched by ski-lifts or resorts. This snow-dense environment mandates the use of cat skis, leaving regular vehicles behind.

Stay at Panorama Hotel: Your Comfort Zone

Nestled in this pristine setting is our Panorama Hotel. It promises unparalleled comfort with its nine versatile rooms – twin, double, and options accommodating three or four guests. Every room boasts private amenities, central heating, and guests have exclusive access to a soothing sauna and a charming fireplace lounge. The Panorama Hotel is recognized as the premium accommodation in Bakhmaro.

Unmatched Skiing Terrains

Embark on an exhilarating ski journey amid pine and fir trees, and once above the tree line, dive into vast alpine bowls filled with the fluffiest snow. Marvel at the mesmerizing juxtaposition of the Black Sea and the iconic Central Caucasus peaks as you descend through Bakhmaro’s tranquil landscapes. For more thrill, explore our combo tours that integrate cat skiing with ski touring and heliskiing.

Bakhmaro’s unique position on the Northern slopes of the lesser Caucasus, coupled with air masses from the adjacent Black Sea, results in some of the world’s most exquisite, dry powder snow. The consistent snowfall ensures an extended skiing season, running from December to March.

The terrains around Bakhmaro are diverse, ranging from broad spaces to steep tree lines that can stretch over 700m in a vertical drop. If you have an adventurous spirit, these terrains promise endless deep powder lines waiting to be uncovered.

Heliski, Catski, and Alpine: A Trio of Experiences

Our diverse offerings of heliski and catski, combined with the alpine terrain, make every skiing dream possible. Whether it’s skiing through dense pine forests during low visibility storm days or soaring above the treeline with heliski during clearer days, Bakhmaro ensures non-stop action.

Savoring Georgian Delicacies

Post an invigorating day on the slopes, unwind in our cozy hotel, and indulge in the therapeutic sauna. Relish traditional Georgian delicacies, perfectly paired with native wines and brandy, as you reminisce about your spectacular skiing adventures.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival to Kutaisi or Tbilisi airport where a small bus will transport you to Chkhakoura (5 hour drive from Tbilisi and 1.5 hour drive from Kutaisi). To reach the village, we will ride the snowcat for about 1 hour.  After we check in to the accommodation, you will be introduced to your guide. We will arrange any necessary ski equipment needed for you at this time.

Day 2 - Day 7

Full days of catski and skitouring.

4 days of unlimited catski, with no limit to the descents. Depending on the physical or mental capacity of the skier, the catski can drop you on an average of 8 runs a day, with a combined 3500-4500 vertical meters. On these days, we will start in the morning and end in the evening. For lunch, we will eat a lunchbox in the snowcat, getting the most out of our ski day without having to return to the cabin. These days will not be disturbed by bad weather, as the snowcat can operate in low visibility and drop us into alpine forests, where visibility is clear through the line.

2 days of skitour. Each day we will go through a different route from the village, enjoying the captivating wild landscapes and deep powder snow around us. We’ll take our lunch with us and eat while we ski tour. These tours are incredibly exciting, as most of these lines have yet to be pioneered and discovered. We will sometimes venture into new territories together, making the tour more adventurous.

Depending on which activity we choose on Day 7, we will end in the early afternoon and be transported to either Tbilisi or Kutaisi. Check in to the hotel and rest for the night.

Day 8

Departure day. Driver will transport you from hotel to the airport.
