Chiatura Rock Climbing Course Itinerary

*We can design itineraries for your group up to 6 days, if you are interested. This is our basic itinerary and is fully customizable as per your requests and needs.

Day 1

In the early morning, your guide will meet you and you will be transported to Chiatura region, which is about a 2 hour drive from Tbilisi. We will drive straight to the climbing area. Before we begin, we will first get to know the climbing equipment and learn how to use it. This day your guide will instruct you on basic climbing moves, safety techniques on single pitches, rope work, and climbing verbiage and communication. After climbing, we will drive to the Sveri Adventure camp, where you can choose between camping in tents or sleeping in the wooden house.

*You should be in Tbilisi the night before the first full day of the course.

Day 2

After breakfast we’ll drive to an incredible climbing area called Katskhi, where we can first stop and view the magnificen Katskhi pillar and monastery. When we reach the rock, we will put to use all the skills we learned the day before. After a good warmup, you will climb harder routes with the supervision and instruction of your guide. On this day we’ll learn belaying, abseiling techniques, rope skills, and risk management on fall dangers and ropes. Your guide will drive you back to the camp and you’ll rest for the night.

Day 3

This day we will put all of our learning to work! A full day of climbing on the rocks, where you’ll spend time lead climbing and belaying your climbing partner under the supervision of your instructor. We will climb just a 10 minute walk from the Sveri camp. After a full day, we will return to the camp and pack our things.
