At The Alpine Project, we strive to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests. Catskiing in Goderdzi is an exhilarating adventure, but it requires a certain level of skiing ability and experience. To ensure everyone has a fantastic time, we ask that our clients meet the following experience criteria:
Intermediate to Advanced Skiing Ability: Clients should be proficient skiers, capable of navigating varied snow conditions and terrains. You should be comfortable skiing on ungroomed slopes, which may include powder, crust, and variable snow.
Off-Piste Experience: Prior experience in off-piste skiing is essential. Clients should be familiar with the techniques necessary to handle unmarked and backcountry terrain. If you have participated in other off-piste or freeride skiing activities, this will enhance your enjoyment and safety during the trip.
Physical Fitness: Catskiing can be physically demanding. Clients should be in good physical condition, with the stamina to ski multiple runs in a day, often at higher altitudes. Regular cardiovascular exercise and strength training are recommended to prepare for the adventure.
Avalanche Awareness: While we provide guidance and safety equipment, it’s crucial that clients have a basic understanding of avalanche safety and terrain assessment. Previous training or courses in avalanche awareness will significantly enhance your safety and enjoyment on the slopes.
Equipment Familiarity: Clients should be comfortable with their skiing equipment, including skis, boots, and safety gear (avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe). If you’re renting equipment, ensure you are familiar with its operation and use.
If you are unsure whether you meet these criteria or have questions about your suitability for catskiing, please feel free to contact us. Our guides are happy to discuss your experience and help you prepare for an unforgettable adventure in Bakhmaro!
Arrival to Kutaisi or Tbilisi airport where a small bus will transport you to Goderdi(6.5 hour drive from Tbilisi and 7 hour drive from Kutaisi). To reach the village, we will ride the snowcat for about 1 hour. After we check in to the accommodation, you will be introduced to your guide. We will arrange any necessary ski equipment needed for you at this time.
Full days of catski
Experience 5-6 days of unlimited catskiing with no limit on descents. Depending on your physical and mental capacity, we’ll aim for 8 runs per day, covering 2800-3500 vertical meters. We’ll start early and ski until evening, enjoying lunchboxes in the snowcat to maximize our time on the slopes. Bad weather won’t interrupt our adventure, as the snowcat can operate in low visibility and drop us into clear alpine forests.
On Day 7, depending on the chosen activity, we’ll finish by early afternoon and head to Tbilisi or Kutaisi for check-in and a restful night.
